HEIC INPUT GUIDE

Start with a supported still image—not a photo sequence.

HEIC and HEIF are broad container families. PerfectVector deliberately supports a bounded still-image path rather than claiming every codec and capture mode.

How HEIC is handled

  • The file type, still-image brand, and primary dimensions are checked locally before the decoder loads.
  • A supported still image is decoded in the browser and normalized to verified PNG pixels for vectorization.
  • Sequence brands, corrupt containers, oversized sources, and unavailable decodes stop before upload.

Strong HEIC sources

  • Phone photos of logos, signatures, sketches, labels, or signs
  • Flat subjects photographed with even light and clear contrast
  • Artwork that needs editable paths rather than photographic reproduction

Keep HEIC for the complete photo

  • Live Photo motion and HEIC image sequences are not converted to animated SVG.
  • Multiple images, HDR, wide gamut, high bit depth, mirrors, and alternate HEIF codecs are outside the current promise.
  • Fine texture, depth, soft shadows, and subtle color transitions may become simplified or stylized.
HOW IT WORKS

From an iPhone image to inspectable vector paths

  1. 1

    Choose the HEIC file

Upload a supported still HEIC, HEIF, or HIF file. Its structure and declared dimensions are checked locally first.

  2. 2

    Review the prepared image

PerfectVector decodes the supported image in the browser and applies the normal quality review when prepared pixels may affect the result.

  3. 3

    Inspect the vectorization

Use the watermarked preview to check edges, colors, negative space, and nodes before deciding whether the stylized paths fit your job.

  4. 4

    Unlock the SVG

Spend one credit to unlock the finished SVG. Once that result is unlocked, later downloads do not spend another credit.

BACKGROUND

When should you convert HEIC to SVG?

HEIC is a common way for iPhones and other devices to store efficient, high-quality raster images. That makes it convenient for capture, but a HEIC photo is still made of pixels and many design tools expect a more widely editable format.

PerfectVector removes one unnecessary detour for the proven still-image subset. It inspects the container locally, decodes the supported image to verified pixels, and sends only the prepared canonical image into the existing vectorization workflow. HEIF and HIF filename aliases stay on this same canonical page.

A clean phone capture of a logo, signature, drawing, label, sign, or flat object can be a useful vector source. A full photograph with lighting, skin, fur, reflections, or depth will produce a stylized vector interpretation—not a photographically identical SVG.

CHOOSE THE RIGHT RESULT

Editable artwork—or the original phone photo.

Vectorization is useful when recognizable forms need to become paths. Keeping HEIC is better when the complete photographic capture matters.

Keep HEIC when the photograph itself is the product. Vectorize a supported still when a logo, drawing, signature, or other visible form needs editable geometry.

Before you pick a plan

You're in good company.

I'd tried everything and been let down every time — I'd given up, figuring today's tech just couldn't do this. And you actually built it. If this is real, it's genuinely incredible.

It converts at even better quality than I expected — it preserves the character of the original better than anything else I've tried.
imbee••••via Threads
PerfectVector is impressively fast, and the output quality is already very good. With a bit more refinement it could easily compete with the leading tools.

Way more detailed than I expected. Opening Illustrator to convert every single time was such a chore — bookmarked.

Tried it — it's accurate. Simple images actually expose detail differences more than complex ones do, and this nails them.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Questions before you convert?

Can I upload HEIF or HIF as well as HEIC?+
The page accepts the `.heic`, `.heif`, and `.hif` filename families, but the file must contain the proven supported still-image brand and structure. Renaming an unsupported HEIF variant does not make it compatible.
Does this convert an iPhone Live Photo into animated SVG?+
No. PerfectVector supports a bounded still-image path and rejects HEIC sequence brands. It does not rebuild Live Photo motion or timing as SVG animation.
Will a HEIC photo look exactly the same as SVG?+
Not usually. SVG vectorization interprets visible regions as shapes, so texture, lighting, hair, fur, reflections, gradients, and fine photographic detail may become stylized. Inspect the preview before unlocking.
Which phone images make good vector sources?+
Evenly lit photos of logos, drawings, signatures, labels, signs, and other flat subjects with strong contrast usually translate better than busy scenes or depth-heavy photographs.
Is my HEIC converted locally before upload?+
Yes. The supported HEIC container is inspected and decoded in your browser, then verified canonical pixels enter the existing upload flow. Unsupported, corrupt, cancelled, or unconfirmed inputs do not start the network job.
How does pricing work?+
Vectorizing and preview are always free and unlimited — you only spend a credit when you download a finished file.
