APNG FRAME GUIDE

Confirm the visible frame before building still vector paths.

An APNG frame may depend on earlier frames, transparency, blending, and disposal. PerfectVector presents composited stills so you choose what was actually visible.

How APNG is handled

  • The PNG chunks, animation control, frame order, dimensions, limits, and checksums are validated locally.
  • Frames are composited in a worker with their blend and disposal behavior applied.
  • A multi-frame APNG must be confirmed before it re-enters the normal size, quality, and upload flow. A valid one-frame APNG continues automatically.

Strong APNG frame sources

  • One icon state, reaction, badge, title card, or character pose
  • Lossless animation frames with transparent backgrounds and clear regions
  • A still moment that needs recoloring, editing, cutting, or enlargement

Keep APNG when motion matters

  • The SVG contains one composited still frame, not the complete animation.
  • Timing, looping, transitions, and frame sequence are not transferred to SVG.
  • Corrupt, oversized, exceptionally complex, or over-limit animations stop before upload.
HOW IT WORKS

From animated PNG to one editable moment

  1. 1

    Upload the APNG

Choose an `.apng` file or a PNG that contains APNG animation data. PerfectVector validates the animation locally.

  2. 2

    Choose the visible frame

For a multi-frame APNG, compare the animation with composited still frames and confirm the exact moment you want. No upload begins before that choice. A valid one-frame APNG continues automatically.

  3. 3

    Inspect the vector preview

Review the watermarked SVG preview for edges, transparency, colors, interior gaps, and nodes.

  4. 4

    Unlock the still SVG

Spend one credit to unlock the finished still SVG. Later downloads of that unlocked result do not spend another credit.

BACKGROUND

When should you convert APNG to SVG?

APNG extends PNG with multiple frames while retaining full-color pixels and alpha transparency. It is useful for lossless web animation, but its frames are still raster images and cannot be edited as vector shapes.

PerfectVector recognizes the animation from the file structure even when the filename simply ends in `.png`. It validates and composites the frames locally. For a multi-frame APNG, you must confirm one exact still before upload; a valid one-frame APNG continues automatically. Disposal and blending are applied so the selected image reflects the visible animation state rather than a raw patch.

This workflow fits an icon state, title card, character pose, badge, sticker, or interface moment that needs scalable artwork. Keep the APNG when movement, timing, or the complete frame sequence is essential.

CHOOSE MOTION OR EDITABILITY

One editable frame—or the complete animation.

APNG preserves motion and raster detail. PerfectVector is for the different job of rebuilding one visible moment as editable shapes.

Before you pick a plan

You're in good company.

I'd tried everything and been let down every time — I'd given up, figuring today's tech just couldn't do this. And you actually built it. If this is real, it's genuinely incredible.

It converts at even better quality than I expected — it preserves the character of the original better than anything else I've tried.

PerfectVector is impressively fast, and the output quality is already very good. With a bit more refinement it could easily compete with the leading tools.

Way more detailed than I expected. Opening Illustrator to convert every single time was such a chore — bookmarked.

Tried it — it's accurate. Simple images actually expose detail differences more than complex ones do, and this nails them.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Questions before you convert?

Can I convert a complete APNG animation into animated SVG?+
No. PerfectVector converts one locally composited frame into a still SVG. For a multi-frame APNG, you explicitly confirm the frame. It does not transfer the APNG timeline, looping, or motion into SVG animation.
What if my animated PNG file ends in .png instead of .apng?+
PerfectVector examines the PNG structure, so a valid animation is routed to the APNG frame selector even when the filename ends in `.png`. A static PNG stays on the normal PNG path.
Does the selector show complete frames or only changed patches?+
It shows composited visible frames. The local worker applies each frame's position, transparency, blending, and disposal behavior so you choose the state a viewer would display.
Which APNG frames vectorize best?+
Icons, badges, stickers, title cards, interface states, and character poses with clear regions usually work better than frames dominated by blur, glow, photographic texture, or tiny moving details.
Does anything upload before I choose a frame from a multi-frame APNG?+
No. A multi-frame APNG is validated and previewed locally, and the network workflow cannot begin until you confirm one exact frame. A valid one-frame APNG has no frame choice and continues automatically after local validation. Cancelling or replacing the file before it is ready produces no upload or vectorization job.
How does pricing work?+
