BMP is a family of layouts, not one universal encoding. PerfectVector supports the proven uncompressed Windows subset used by its tested browser preparation path.

BACKGROUND

Why modernize BMP artwork as SVG?

BMP stores artwork as pixels and is common in older Windows applications, archived design folders, and legacy production workflows. Its typically uncompressed pixel data can preserve hard edges well, but the file still becomes blocky when enlarged and remains difficult to recolor or reshape.

PerfectVector accepts a bounded set of common uncompressed Windows BMP and DIB layouts. The browser inspects the real file structure, normalizes supported palette, 16-bit, 24-bit, and opaque 32-bit sources into the canonical image workflow, and rejects unsupported compression or layouts before requesting an upload URL.

Vectorization interprets those pixels as shapes; it does not promise a pixel-identical reconstruction. Clean logos, lettering, diagrams, icons, and flat illustrations are stronger candidates than photographs or unusual bitmap variants. Inspect the watermarked result and its anchor nodes before unlocking the SVG.
