A multicolor image may contain anti-aliased edge pixels and compressed shades that look like extra colors to a tracer. Choose the few regions that should become distinct parts before conversion. If you want a three-color badge, a trace with dozens of near-duplicate colors is extra cleanup, not extra useful detail.

There is no need to hide the tradeoff between a vector editor and a dedicated converter. Both can produce a useful SVG when the source fits.

Convert the PNG and prepare the color parts
1. Clean the raster source
Use the largest sharp copy you have. Crop away unrelated objects and remove an unwanted background. A solid background can turn into a large rectangular region, while dust and compression marks can become tiny vector fragments.
Keep the background when it is meant to be the base plate. Prepare the source so its visible regions match the parts you intend to model.
2. Set a deliberate color count
Identify the base, raised artwork, and accents before tracing. Combine shades that should use the same material or color. Keep separate regions only when they have a useful modeling role.
Color alone does not guarantee that Bambu Studio will produce the grouping you expect. The SVG also needs distinct, usable geometry. Two differently colored areas that were flattened into one path may need separation in a vector editor.
3. Create the SVG
Trace the image in Inkscape, or convert the PNG to SVG for a 3D-printing workflow. Download the SVG and keep the original PNG nearby for comparison.
At this stage, look at the whole silhouette before zooming into nodes. Confirm that no letter disappeared, no counter filled in, and no background rectangle joined the artwork.

Audit the SVG before Bambu Studio
An SVG can look correct in a browser and still contain geometry that becomes awkward after import. Check these five items first.
Closed regions
Each area that should become a face needs a usable boundary. In SVG, a path can contain open or closed subpaths; the SVG 2 path specification defines how those segments and closure commands work. If curves appear but the region does not become a face, inspect open endpoints, overlaps, and line-only artwork with the SVG extrusion checklist.
Do not close every line blindly. Engraving marks and centerlines may be intentionally open. Close only boundaries intended to enclose an area.
Holes and counters
The center of a ring or the counter inside a letter must remain empty. SVG fill behavior can depend on path direction and the fill-rule property, as defined in the SVG 2 painting specification. If an intended hole becomes solid, inspect the compound path or subtract the inner profile after import. Recoloring the middle white does not necessarily make it a hole.

Stray rectangles and fragments
Hide the fill or switch to an outline view in a vector editor. Delete a background rectangle only after confirming it is not the intended base. Remove tiny islands that came from dust, shadows, or color noise. These fragments may become separate model pieces or expand the imported bounds.
Node count
Simple curves should not need dense chains of points. Excess nodes can make editing and downstream geometry solving slower, but aggressive simplification can flatten corners or close small gaps. Physical size
Know one target dimension before import, such as the badge width. Do not assume the pixel dimensions of the PNG will become the correct millimeters. If the SVG arrives at an unexpected scale, use the wrong-size SVG checklist and correct the document or import dimensions deliberately.
Import and verify in Bambu Studio
The official Bambu Lab sequence is a useful final checklist:
- Open File > Import and select the SVG.
- Confirm the model's width and height against your target dimensions.
- Set the thickness or height needed for the project.
- Check that the expected regions became usable parts.
- Assign colors or materials to the intended parts.
- Slice the model and inspect the preview before printing.
Zoom into small counters, corners, and gaps after import. A clean 2D preview is helpful, but the Bambu Studio model and sliced layers are the checks that matter for this destination.
This guide intentionally stops short of universal nozzle, layer-height, filament, or purge settings. Those choices depend on the printer, material, model geometry, desired surface, and current Bambu Studio setup.

- Exact brand lettering: Automatic tracing may preserve the visible outline but not the original font construction. Use the source vector or redraw it when accuracy matters.
- Single-line engraving: A centerline workflow may be better than turning every stroke into a filled shape.
- Very small printable features: The SVG may retain them even when the chosen physical size, nozzle, or material cannot. Evaluate those details in the actual model and sliced preview.
Final pre-slice checklist
- The source has intentional flat regions rather than accidental shades.
- Every part you want to model has a distinct usable shape.
- Intended faces have closed boundaries.
- Counters and holes remain empty.
- No unwanted background rectangle or tiny fragment remains.
