# Connect your assistant

Add PerfectVector to ChatGPT or Claude by its server URL, sign in with Google, and keep your connection working.

## Before you connect

You need:

- **A ChatGPT or Claude account that can add custom connectors.** In ChatGPT, custom MCP servers are available through developer mode, depending on your plan and workspace. On Claude Team and Enterprise plans, an organization owner may need to add the connector.
- **A Google account.** Sign in with the same Google account you use on the PerfectVector website, so your conversions use that account's credits. If you're new to PerfectVector, signing in creates your account.

Connecting is free and works even when your balance is zero. You only need a credit when you convert an image.

PerfectVector isn't listed in the ChatGPT or Claude directories, so you add it by its server URL:

```text
https://mcp.perfectvector.com/mcp
```

## Connect ChatGPT

Set up the connection in ChatGPT on the web.

1. If your account needs developer mode to add custom MCP servers, turn it on in ChatGPT's **Settings**, under **Security and login**. Some accounts can add a custom server without it.
2. Open **Plugins**, select **Add**, then **Add custom MCP server**. On some versions the option is called **Create MCP App** or **Create custom MCP server**.
3. Name it PerfectVector and enter the server URL above.
4. Keep authentication set to OAuth. ChatGPT detects PerfectVector's sign-in method on its own, so leave the client ID and client secret fields empty. You don't need an API key.
5. If ChatGPT shows a notice about custom servers, read it and confirm that you want to continue. Then select **Create**.
6. Sign in with Google on the PerfectVector page that opens (see [Sign in with Google](#sign-in-with-google)). ChatGPT opens it when you connect, or the first time you use PerfectVector.
7. Start a new conversation and turn on PerfectVector for it, from the tools menu or by typing `@` and choosing PerfectVector where that's offered. Then ask for a conversion.

In ChatGPT, you can attach an image to your message or choose it in the PerfectVector card.

## Connect Claude

1. In Claude, open **Customize**, then **Connectors**.
2. Add a custom connector.
3. Name it PerfectVector and enter the server URL above. You don't need an API key, client ID, or client secret, so leave any advanced settings empty.
4. Select **Connect**, then sign in with Google on the PerfectVector page that opens (see [Sign in with Google](#sign-in-with-google)).
5. In your conversation, turn on the PerfectVector connector from the tools menu, and ask for a conversion.

The connector also works in the Claude desktop app. Claude can't pass chat attachments to PerfectVector, so you choose your image in the PerfectVector card instead. See [Convert an image in a conversation](/docs/mcp/use-in-conversation).

## Sign in with Google

When you connect, your assistant opens a PerfectVector sign-in page on mcp.perfectvector.com. Choose **Continue with Google** and pick the Google account you use on the website.

- The PerfectVector account you sign in with is the one whose credits are used. It doesn't need to match the email address of your ChatGPT or Claude account.
- Finish signing in within 5 minutes. If the link expires, start the connection again from your assistant. No credits are used.
- Connecting your assistant doesn't sign you in to the PerfectVector website.

## How long a connection lasts

A connection lasts 30 days from when you connect. Using PerfectVector doesn't extend it.

After 30 days, reconnect from your assistant's connector settings and sign in with the same Google account. Your conversions stay with the PerfectVector account that made them, so the same account can reach them again.

## Disconnect

To disconnect, remove PerfectVector from your assistant's connector settings. Connections end 30 days after you connect.

## Supported assistants

PerfectVector MCP is verified with ChatGPT and Claude, and the steps above cover both. Other assistants, including Claude Code, Codex, and Cursor, are not verified yet.

Assistants update their settings from time to time, so menu and button names may differ from the steps above.
