# Is It Safe to Upload a Client Logo to an Online Converter?

> Check four lines in a converter's terms before you upload client work: training, retention, public visibility and ownership. Dated quotes from the main tools.

Picture the usual scenario. A client sends a small JPG of their logo, the banner is due today, and the quickest fix is an online vectorizer. Then you remember the NDA and stop before you hit upload. Is it safe? It can be, if the converter's terms say it won't train on, publicly show or claim your file, and say how long it keeps it. Check those four lines before you upload.

This guide gives you the four checks, the words to search for on any terms or privacy page, and what the main converters' own pages said when we read them on November 2, 2026. We make PerfectVector, so our terms are in the table too, held to the same standard.

> **Short on time? The quick version**
>
> * **Training:** search the terms for "train", "improve our products" and "opt-out".
> * **Retention:** search for "retain", "delete" and "hours" or "days".
> * **Public visibility:** search for "public", "gallery" and "community".
> * **Ownership and use:** search for "owned by", "personal use" and "commercial".
> * **Unreleased or NDA work:** use a desktop tool or ask the client first.

## The four checks to run before you upload a client logo

Each check below answers one question your client could reasonably ask: where did our logo go, and who can use it now? Open the converter's terms of service and privacy policy, press Ctrl+F (Cmd+F on a Mac), and search for the words listed.

![Illustration of a logo file above an upload arrow, beside a terms page where a magnifying glass shows four lines highlighted in red, yellow, green and purple](https://perfectvector.com/blog/upload-client-logo-online-converter/terms-checklist.webp)

*Illustration: before the logo goes up, four highlighted lines in the terms are the ones to read.*

### 1. Training: will the file be used to train or improve a model?

* **Search for:** "train", "machine learning", "improve our products", "opt-out", "opt out".
* **What you want to find:** a plain statement that uploads and results are not used for model training. If training is on by default, look for an opt-out and check whether it covers your plan.
* **Why it matters for client work:** once a file is in a training set, you can't pull it back out. If your client agreement mentions AI tools, "did this go into an AI?" is a question you may have to answer in writing.

Watch for soft wording. "Improve our products" can cover more than bug fixes, so read the sentences around it.

### 2. Retention: how long is the file kept, and is that a promise?

* **Search for:** "retain", "retention", "delete", "expire", "hours", "days".
* **What you want to find:** how long uploads and results are kept, what they are kept for, and whether the company says the policy can change.
* **Why it matters for client work:** a stored file can be reached by more people, and for longer, than a file that was processed and gone. If the NDA limits where the artwork may be stored, the retention clause is the one to quote back to yourself.

### 3. Public visibility: can anyone else see it?

* **Search for:** "public", "gallery", "community", "showcase", "sample".
* **What you want to find:** whether uploads or results can appear in a public gallery, as a sample, or on a share page, and whether that depends on your plan.
* **Why it matters for client work:** an unreleased mark that shows up in a community feed is a leak, whatever the terms called it.

### 4. Ownership and commercial use: who owns the result, and can you bill for it?

* **Search for:** "owned by", "ownership", "license", "personal use", "commercial".
* **What you want to find:** that the service claims no ownership of your input or output, and that your plan allows commercial use.
* **Why it matters for client work:** client work is commercial by definition. A free tier limited to personal use, or one that assigns ownership to the service, does not fit a paid logo job even if the file looks perfect.

None of these checks is about who owns the logo itself. A converter's terms cover what the converter may do with the copy you upload and with the result it gives back.

## What the main converters' terms say (as of Nov 2, 2026)

We read each tool's terms, FAQ, pricing or help pages on November 2, 2026, and quote them below word for word. "Not covered" means the pages we read did not address that check. It does not mean the answer is yes or no. Terms change, so treat this as a starting point and re-read the source before you upload.

### Notes on each tool

**Vectorizer.AI.** Its [Terms of Use](https://vectorizer.ai/policies/terms) (effective Oct 23, 2025) set a default: "Except where a particular Site or Service expressly states otherwise in its own published policies, user content may be retained and used for model training as described in this section." The same section adds: "If any Site or Service operated by Company publishes materials (such as an FAQ or About page) that expressly state that user content is not retained or not used for model training, those published statements govern that specific Site or Service." The [FAQ on its home page](https://vectorizer.ai/) gives the 24-hour retention statement in the table and also says: "Please note that our data retention policies may change over time, and this current policy does not bind us in the future, or require your affirmative consent to change." So the terms describe a default, the FAQ makes a narrower retention statement, and the terms say published statements of that kind govern. Read both and decide how they apply to your file. Our [Vectorizer.AI alternatives guide](https://perfectvector.com/blog/vectorizer-ai-alternatives) covers pricing and output, which we leave out here.

**Vector Magic.** Both its terms and Vectorizer.AI's name the same operator, Cedar Lake Ventures, Inc., and its [Terms of Use](https://vectormagic.com/policies/terms) (effective Oct 23, 2025) contain the same training and two-week expiry sentences. The [Vector Magic FAQ](https://vectormagic.com/support/faq) pages we read did not include a separate retention or training statement. The sample clause in the table applies when you choose to share a result or allow its use as a sample.

**Recraft.** The [Terms of Service](https://www.recraft.ai/legal/terms) (last updated Oct 21, 2026) say: "You acknowledge and agree that Recraft may use your Inputs you provide and the Assets produced by the Services to train, fine-tune, and otherwise improve Recraft’s artificial intelligence models and systems." The visibility and ownership quotes come from the [pricing page FAQ](https://www.recraft.ai/pricing), which talks about images "generated" on each plan. It does not say whether a vectorized upload counts, so check your plan settings before uploading client work.

**Kittl.** The [pricing page](https://www.kittl.com/pricing) answers the commercial question for the Free plan, quoted in the table. Training and retention were not covered on the page we read, so look for them in Kittl's terms and privacy policy.

**Figma.** Figma is a design tool rather than a converter, but client logos end up in design files too. Its [help article on AI content training](https://help.figma.com/hc/en-us/articles/17725942479127) adds: "Admins of a Starter team can toggle off content training at any time in the team's settings." If your team's admin is someone else, ask them.

**Desktop tools.** Illustrator's Image Trace and Inkscape's Trace Bitmap run on your own computer, so the four checks don't apply to the trace itself. If you save the file to a cloud service afterwards, that service's terms apply instead. Our guides to [Inkscape Trace Bitmap](https://perfectvector.com/blog/inkscape-trace-bitmap) and [Image Trace versus AI vectorizers](https://perfectvector.com/blog/image-trace-vs-ai-vectorizer) cover the settings and the cleanup cost.

**PerfectVector.** Our own row is explained in its own section below, including its limits.

For tool choice on quality, formats and price rather than terms, see our [comparison of AI vectorizers](https://perfectvector.com/blog/best-ai-vectorizers-2026).

## When not to upload at all

Some files shouldn't go to any online converter, whatever its terms say.

* **Unreleased or NDA-covered marks.** If the logo hasn't been announced, or the agreement restricts third-party tools, trace it on your own computer with Image Trace or Inkscape, or ask the client before you upload. A one-line email ("Can I use an online vectorizer for this file?") settles it.
* **Contracts that mention AI.** If your NDA has a clause about AI tools or AI training, read it before you read the converter's terms. A converter's no-training statement may not be enough if the contract forbids uploading to an AI service at all.
* **Files with other people's data.** Mockups with real names, addresses or unreleased product shots carry more than the logo.

Browser-only (client-side) converters are another option. They process the image on your own device instead of sending it to a server. You can usually recognise one in three ways: its privacy page says processing happens locally in your browser; once the page has loaded, it still converts with your internet connection switched off; and your browser's developer tools (Network tab) show no request carrying your file. AI vectorizers that run their model on a server, PerfectVector included, don't work this way.

## What this looks like with PerfectVector

PerfectVector is an AI image-to-vector converter that turns PNG, JPG and other raster images into clean, editable SVG, PDF, EPS, DXF and AI files. It runs online, which means your upload goes to our servers for processing. Here is what our own terms and privacy policy say about that.

* **Training.** Our [Privacy Policy](https://perfectvector.com/privacy) says: "We do not use your uploaded images, generated SVGs, or any personal data to train machine-learning models, nor do we share them with third parties for that purpose." Our [Terms](https://perfectvector.com/terms) add, about files we keep for operations: "We do not use them for machine learning or model training, sell them, or share them with third parties for their own purposes."
* **Ownership.** The Terms say: "We claim no ownership of your inputs or of the SVG outputs you generate."
* **Commercial use.** The Terms say: "You may use SVG outputs for any lawful commercial or personal purpose, subject to the rights you hold in the original image." That applies on every plan, including Free.
* **Visibility.** There is no public gallery or sharing surface.

The limits matter as much as the promises, so here they are in the same place.

* **Retention.** We may keep uploaded images, generated SVGs, previews and thumbnails to debug failed or low-quality conversions, run internal quality reviews, and respond to abuse or takedown requests. The Terms say: "We retain these files only for as long as reasonably necessary for those purposes." We don't publish a fixed deletion time.
* **Staff review.** The Privacy Policy says: "To keep PerfectVector safe, a small number of authorized staff review recent conversions in our internal, read-only dashboard to spot misuse, like illegal or abusive content."

So if the file is something you can't share with anyone, including a small team checking for abuse, use a desktop tool instead. If the four checks above are what you need, [vectorize your client's logo](https://perfectvector.com/vectorize-logo) and inspect the preview for free before you decide anything else.

## FAQ

**Is Vectorizer.AI safe to use for client logos?**
That depends on what your client agreement allows, so compare it with what Vectorizer.AI publishes. As of November 2, 2026, its Terms of Use say user content may be retained and used for model training by default and that "There is no individual opt-out from such processing." Its FAQ says it retains uploaded images and results for 24 hours, and that its terms grant the rights it needs to deliver the service and to improve its products. The terms also say published FAQ statements that content is not retained or not used for training govern that service. Read both pages and decide against your NDA.

**Does an AI vectorizer use my images for training?**
Some do by default and some say they don't, so check each tool's terms. Search the terms and privacy policy for "train", "improve our products" and "opt-out". As of November 2, 2026, Recraft's terms say training is enabled by default with an opt-out, Vectorizer.AI's and Vector Magic's terms describe default training with no individual opt-out unless a service's own published pages say otherwise, and PerfectVector's privacy policy says uploads and generated SVGs are not used to train machine-learning models.

**Is it safe to use online converters?**
It can be, if you check the converter's terms and the site itself before uploading. Run the four checks in this guide: training, retention, public visibility and ownership. Then cover the basics: type the converter's address yourself or use a bookmark instead of clicking an ad, and never install a download or "desktop helper" that a converter page pushes on you. A web converter does not need you to install anything.
